Comic Book Reviews By: Alicia (Kat Clark) Inman and Chris (Poepo) Inman
Angel #44 for $3.99
After being sent to the future Angel returns to the present time where Connor, Gun, and Anne are fighting off a powerful evil. This comic is a great point to start catching up and starting in. The art is spectacular with all the characters looking so much like the ones from the show. A nice little plus in this issue if you are just starting to read angel is the big power show off by Connor. I would give it a 4 out of 5. -Kat
100-Page Spectacular Angel $7.99
The Curse: This is a great little one shot. This one shot has a great little update into Angel's emotional state and how he plans on getting around the whole no happiness if he has “perfect” happiness curse. And it takes place in Romania as he is trying to help the gypsies. So a recap iner thoughts of Angel, really pissed off Romanian vamps and sunlight all around I totally give it a 4 out of 5. -Kat
Mystery Date: Here we find Nina(werewolf girl) and Angel, in puppet form, going out to have a “normal” night out. When a dismissed client comes to destroy Angel. The story keeps you guessing and asking what is happening. I would have to give it a 3 out of 5. -Kat
Auld Long Syne: This was a great issue as we find Angel and Spike after they both have been battling people from their past. This is a issue that is worth the the price of the whole book with both Angel and Spike going at each other and not holding anything back this time. I fully give it a 5 out of 5.- Kat
Last Angel in Hell: Angel and the gang are at San Diego in a Sci-fi Festival. (“Rip-off of the comic con.”-Connor) They are looking for a flaming sword but get much more when all the people in costume become their characters it is a great end to the 100- page spectacular. I would have to give it a 4 out of 5 for the pure comedy factor.
Spike #7 $3.99
Spike has lost his soul but luckly he knows just where to find it, right in Dru. But first we get a glimpse at the ship that Spike is caption of in the future in Buffy that is piloted by bugs. This is a great comic to see start off with and to help you understand how Spike came upon the ship in the fist place if you have read or plan to read Buffy. This is a 5 out of 5 for sure.
Dollhouse one shot $3.50
This is a great start to show the Dollhouse world. As the first two seasons ended with showing us that the tech that made the dolls the way they were became the end of the world as we know it and started a whole new one. The characters Zone and Helen are great and you get a great since of who they are. The art work was amazing and the story keeps you interested and wanting more. I am really looking forward to Dollhouse #1 on sale July 13, 2011 and you can find it and this one shot at Poepoz. I give this 5 out of 5.-Kat
X-23 vs. Daken: Dark Wolverine $2.99
In this comic you have a lot of insight in the back story which helped me because I had not been able to get a X-23 comic in a while. The art work was great and the action was movie worthy and of course this issue ends at the start of a possibly epic battle though with all the build up here and there and the answer to many questions that have been hanging in the balance for a while. I will have to give it a 3 out of 5.-Kat
Fear Itself Prologue Book of the Skull one shot $3.99
This is a great prologue to Fear Itself for all the unanswered questions of how Sin even knew about the hammer and how did she know about it. Here we find the answers and she how Sin is still wanting to be better than the Skull. We find out that the Skull in February 1942 got the hammer sent to him but from whom is still a mystery. I give it a 4 out of 5.-Kat
Part Five War of the Green Lanterns Green Lantern Corps # 59 $2.99
Here we get to see how bad the lanterns are being affected. They are all turning against the ones who have not been affected. Also how the four green lanterns that have not been taken over are planning and dealing with how to deal with the others. Though the story is great I just found myself wanting more. I give it a 4 out of 5.-Kat
Batgirl # 20 $2.99
Batgirl is fighting a super speed villain and more importantly Bardra is not stepping up and hold Batgirls hand though this one. Though I wish the art was a bit better but the story was cute and it was great to see how the characters are growing. I give in a 3 out of 5.- Kat
Planet of the Apes #1 $3.99
This is a interesting story picking up your attention and holding it all the way through. You get to have a revealing view of the characters in this book. In the end you are looking forward to the next issue though not thinking you did not really get enough in this one. I felt the drama and action along with the mystery where well dispersed through out the issue. I am personally looking forward to the next issue and rate this one a 5 out of 5. -Kat
X-Force #1 $1.00
With this comic being only 1 dollar you get WAY more than you pay for. It starts you off with great art work by Clayton Crain, It is eye grasping and the characters are better than ever. After this issue I look forward to each and every one of the 5 issues left of this run. I give it a 4.75 out of 5.-Kat
Irredeemable #1 and Incorruptible #1 $1.00
Well you could say you are only giving 50 cents for each of these comics and to tell the truth you are really under paying here. It's very graphic and it's the beginning of the story. You get a good feeling of the bigger story. good read.
