The time has finally come to review the DCnU. The last issue of Flashpoint shipped today along with the first issue of the new Justice League series. Flashpoint ended very well. It was a superb series and is worthy of a pick up.
Justice League #1 is basically a Batman and Green Lantern show for most of the book. We see Cyborg, but not as Cyborg yet...he is still just Vic Stone a high school football star. It seems as if we will see an origin of Cyborg and of the Justice League as well. This issue read well and the plot is a solid one. We have the big bad revealed but just his name. It is worthy of bringing together the world's greatest heroes.
All in all I would give this 4 out of 5 batarangs. The only thing keeping it from 5 is that it is mostly set-up and this plot would have made a better follow-up story instead of the first story. People are all keyed up to see the newness of the DCnU, and this was still set-up for where we are now (or will be when other books ship next week).
Good job, but it could have been more explosive out of the gate. Here's looking to next week and more (lots more) books.

I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry it has been so long since I have written you. The beginning of school can be tough on a teacher and they moved the main hub for the internet where I live. I have been without the net for two weeks. I am back and better than ever now...just in time for the DCnU to launch with Justice League 31 next week. Be on the lookout next Thursday night for a review of that issue.

Review: Daredevil #1
Marvel and DC have both gotten on my nerves over the past 7-10 years with the way that they will end a current comic series and restart it with a new #1 just a few months later. I have plenty of ideas on how it should be done, but in the words of Peter David, "But I Digress..".
Marvel relaunched Daredevil a week ago and I had mixed feelings about it. First it was a Marvel book and I don't normally go for those. I also have never been a huge fan of the character, except for the Miller and Kevin Smith runs. I then noticed that a man named Mark Waid was going to be doing the writing chores. That got me intrigued enough to give it a read.
Mark Waid has done an amazing job of making a character that has been put through the ringer over the past 10 years as accessible as if he was brand new. This issue has him stop a kidnapping from being committed by The Spot, try to go back to being a lawyer, and start researching a mystery that is pretty interesting. This is a back to basics approach to the character that I hope DC takes with their re-launch.
I give this 5 out of 5 batarangs. I called my local comic shop, www.poepoz.net, and had the owner put this book on my pull list. Make mine DC, with a Marvel title or two. If there is a better book being published by Marvel at this time I do not know about it.

Now This is Worth the Wait!
In 1994, DC Comics hired a writer named James Robinson to write a book titled Starman. It was spun out of the Zero Hour event and was about a legacy character who very few mainstream comic fans knew. It was a hit and the series ended 7 years later in 2001. DC has recently released the entire series in Omnibus format and if you have never read it you should pick it up and try it.
With the spoilers and solicts for the DCnU in September, James Robinson was missing from the creator list. He has been writing JLA for DC and people were beginning to speculate about why he was absent.
We now have the answer. He is revisiting the world of Starman with a new 12 issue mini-series that is debuting in October. Take it away DC.
THE SHADE #1
Written by JAMES ROBINSON
Art by CULLY HAMNER
Cover by TONY HARRIS
1:10 Variant cover by CULLY HAMNER
On sale OCTOBER 12 * 1 of 12, 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US * RATED T+
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. See the Previews order form for more information.
James Robinson returns to the world of his acclaimed STARMAN series with a new 12-issue series starring the antihero known as The Shade! An attack at the Starman museum kicks off a globe-hopping, centuries spanning quest that will irrevocably change The Shade's life, and ultimately shed light on his true origin! Artist extraordinaire Cully Hamner (RED) kicks off the series, and upcoming issues will feature art by such luminaries as Darwyn Cooke, Javier Pulido, Jill Thompson, Frazer Irving and Gene Ha!
This is very exciting for fans of his Starman work....who knows maybe this will spin into an ongoing in a year after the mini-series ends. It is being published under the Dark line in the DCnU, so it will contain some of the characteristic mood and material we loved about the Starman series. Go to your local shop and pre-order it right now....you will be glad you did. Here is the cover for issue #1.

WOW!!!! What a September!
I have recently had a chance to look at the newest Previews and all I can say for what is shipping in September is WOW!
First, Dark Horse has Buffy season 9 issue #1, Roy Thomas writing the ongoing Conan Road of Kings, and all of the Star Wars books.
DC has their re-launch of 52 new #1 titles, including new #1's of Action Comics and Detective Comics. This has the comic world buzzing right now about all of the possible story ideas and where the company can go from here.
Zenescope has all of the Grimm Fairy Tales books including a new Neverland book. Plus their newest hit, The Fly and a soon to be hit Raven Gregory's horror book The Theater.
Dynamite Entertainment has a new Bionic Man series written by none other than Kevin Smith. They also have a comic adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones beginning as well. This could be a hot book considering the popularity of the HBO series based on the book.
Marvel is coming close to a conclusion with the Fear Itself story and all of its tie-ins. The Ultimate universe is shipping issue 2 of Spider-Man and Ultimates and a new #1 of Ultimate X-Men. The mutants are taking center stage along with Fear Itself leading to the new status quo in October.
It is the end of an era in Image because long time Witchblade writer Ron Marz is leaving the book after this months' issue #150.
There are more books than I have money for. Luckily for me my local shop, which can be found online at www.poepoz.net offers a good subscription discount. Look up the information online because it is good for online subscribers as well.
Here are my can't wait picks of the month for September.

The Best Book You're Probably Not Reading Right Now.
Grimm Fairy Tales and all the other books being published by Zenescope Entertainment are some very good books. I was skeptical when they first appeared because they reminded me of the bad-girl books from the 90's, which were light on story, great art, but essentially just T & A books.
I have read every one of the books in this series and all other series in this universe. When they first started this series it was a little tough to read because the writers were just starting to find their voice. As the world they were creating started to solidify, the characters began to find their own voice, and things really started to gel.
Art has always been a high point for this series. Sometimes there is a little too much risque art for my taste, but it is good nonetheless.
The entire universe is starting to come together now during "The Dream Eater Saga" which is bringing all the characters and worlds together. If you pick it up now it may confuse a new reader. My suggestion to you is to start with the first trade, or the hardback that collects the first two trades. If you do you will pick all of them up within a few months and be hooked. They have even released a source book for all the characters, worlds, and events.
I think you should run out to your local comic shop or call Poe Poz and order the trades or visit www.poepoz.net to order. You will be glad you did. I leave you with another cover to entice you to buy soon.

Review: Brightest Day Aftermath: The Search for Swamp Thing
This is a book that should be labeled required reading for the DCnU launch in September. It reintroduces John Constantine and Swamp Thing back into the DCU just in time for the re-launch. It even introduces on of Constantine's long time associates Chas into the universe.
This book is well written, the only problem with it is that if you don't know who Constantine or Swamp Thing are you may be lost. It does no introductions of the characters other than Constantine remembering Batman from the original Crisis. It brings in Zatanna as well, which is good since she will be part of Constantine's JL Dark come September.
I am not going to spoil the book for you, you need to go to Poe Poz and buy a copy to read, but I will say that it should be read by those who are comics fans and want a glimpse into how the events of the re-launch are being set up. If you have not read DC and are interested for September, it is a good book, but you will need to ask a few questions of your local comic shop staff on who the characters are and maybe get them to explain where Constantine and Swamp Thing have been for 20+ years.
This book gets a 3 out of 5 batarangs from me. If it had more character introduction it would have been higher. I use batarangs instead of stars because a) I am a Batman apologist, b) I am the one writing, and c)they are cooler than stars.
Here is the cover for this issue for those interested.

Uncanny X-Men #1 coming in October
With all of the hype and publicity surrounding DC and their September “don’t call it a reboot” re-launch, other companies have been fighting for media attention. Marvel has garnered some of that attention with the announcement that in September their longstanding title, Uncanny X-Men would be ending. They recently announced that in October it would be back with a new #1 and they would be launching a Wolverine and the X-Men #1 alongside it. This is the results of what happens in the storyline called Schism that they are in currently and will be culminating in September.
Some people will say that this is in response to what DC is doing and they are just trying to get some of that attention now. Even if this is what they were doing I would not blame them because in a dwindling marketplace any news can be considered good news. They are actually doing a smart thing here….character progression that will take their mutants somewhere that should have been visited before.
This is fallout from Wolverine and Cyclops, who have never gotten along, essentially splitting the X-Men and making people pick sides as to whose team they will be on. According to a Newsarama interview with Kerion Gillen, who will be writing Uncanny, “each team will think that they are the X-Men”. Jason Aaron, also the writer on the critically acclaimed Vertigo series Scalped, will be writing the Wolverine and the X-Men book.
I am looking forward to this and might actually pick up the first few issues of each to see the characterization and why certain teammates pick either side. Why might Kitty pick Cyclops over Wolverine, or will she? These character moments and moments of seeing how two new teams will have to come together and be a team while dealing with the pressure of still being hated by the human race, not having all of the resources or numbers they used to have, and still having villains to fight should be interesting.
This will be on my pick up list (which is saying something, because I am not Mr. Marvel) and it should be checked out by all comic fans. I think with DC raising the bar and making their stories new, fresh and more accessible will in turn make other companies do the same to compete. There is nothing wrong with competition; it only makes things better in the long run. Comic fans (notice I said comic fans and not Marvel Zombies or DC Fanatics) should be rejoicing right now. We are going through a revival with more comic movies than ever, it is ok to like comics now, DC has raised the bar, Valiant is on the way back to publishing in 2012, and more.
The only problem we should be having is not knowing where our money for all of the goodness will come from, and having to pick and choose what we can afford. I for one will not complain about anything until I read the stories…if they are horrible then I will complain as loud or louder than anyone. I don’t think they will be though….this is one of their last shots and they know it. Maybe Marvel should “don’t call it a reboot” re-launch as well, because if it didn’t work at least they have “Mephisto Magic” to fix everything.

DC’s New Universe…..What to look forward to.
DC’s New Universe…..What to look forward to.
DC Comics announced last week that in September their comic universe would be changing and they were going to re-number every issue to #1. In honor of this historic announcement I am going to give you my pick of the day so to speak. DC has announced on their blog different titles and creative teams for a select number of books each day; so I will go back to each day and pick one and only one title to highlight as a book to buy. Some days picking only one book will be hard but that is my job. I do the hard stuff so you can just read and consider. These are my opinions and not those of DC Comics or Poe Poz……so let’s get to it.
Day 1
This first day there were 11 books solicited and there were some surprises among them to be sure. I was excited about DC Universe Presents, an anthology title with rotating creative teams. I have always enjoyed anthology books and this one looks good. It begins with an initial creative team of Paul Jenkins (writer) and Bernard Chang (artist) on a Deadman story. The book I am most excited about though is……Wonder Woman #1. It is being written by Brian Azzarello of 100 Bullets fame. If you would have given me 20 guesses on who the new writer on this book would have been, I would not have guessed Azzarello. Maybe this is just the kind of boost that her book needs. Art will be by Cliff Chiang.
Day 2
This day brought us Green Lantern solicits. There were a number of surprises again. The most surprising being a Red Lanterns #1, written by Peter Milligan. The book that I am most looking forward to though is …..Green Lantern: The New Guardians #1. It is being written by Tony Bedard, who does space opera pretty well, and drawn by Tyler Kirkham. What is making me look forward to this book though is not the creative team, but the concept. One of all the many colored lanterns (green, red, yellow, blue, orange, purple and pink) will be on one team under the leadership of Kyle Rayner. This is an interesting concept and could make for a great book.
Day 3
This day brought us the books most dear to me….the Bat-Family books. There are many, still too many, but they are a range of titles. Barbara Gordon is back as Batgirl, Jason Todd leads his own team including Arsenal and Starfire, Dick is back as Nightwing, Tim was nowhere to be seen (yet), and Bruce back as the only Batman. With all these shake-ups which book am I looking forward to? Batman #1 with Detective Comics #1 a close second, just for the nostalgia factor. Batman is being written by Scott Snyder and drawn by Greg Capullo. This is exciting because Snyder has been doing a fantastic job on the current Detective Comics. This is going to be a great book.
Day 4
I am a sucker for all of the classic horror/suspense comics of the 60’s and 70’s. DC is bringing back some of that with the Dark line of comics. It will include Swamp Thing #1, Justice League Dark #1, Animal Man #1, Demon Knights #1, Resurrection Man #1, Voodoo #1, and Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE #1. I am most excited about Justice League Dark. Here is a book that will have John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, and Shade the Changing Man. The cover also looks like it may have Zatanna in the book as well. This cast alone would make for a great book but it is also being written by Peter Milligan who knows the dark corners of the DCU well. This will be a definite day one buy.
Day 5
This day brought us teen heroes and the biggest surprise is the one I am looking forward to. Teen Titans #1, written by Scott Lobdell with art by Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund. This is the expected big 4, but with different costumes and it seems stories as well. Red Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl with a couple of unidentified characters are on the cover. This look interesting and I can’t wait for this one.
Day 6
This day brought us the Edge line of books. War, western, and a couple of old Wildstorm books make this day interesting. I was not a big fan of Wildstorm or war books so the only title I am really watching for out of this book is All-Star Western #1. This title will feature Jonah Hex and feature back-ups of the other DCU western heroes. It is being written by the exceptional team of Jimmy Palmotti and Justin Gray, with art by Moritat. This should be a great book. Another couple of solicits hit the wire close to the end of the day….Blue Beetle #1 and Suicide Squad #1. The Suicide Squad will include Deadshot, King Shark and Harley Quinn.
Day 7
The four books revealed today were Superman, Action Comics, Supergirl, and Superboy. The book I am most looking forward to though is Action Comics #1 by Grant Morrison and Rags Morales. It is not everyday that we get to own a piece of history and we have the chance with this book. Action Comics #1 has been the “Holy Grail” of comics…now we are starting over with another #1 that we all have a chance to own.
These are my #1 buys for the month of September, but you make your own decisions, or better yet just go ahead and buy all 52 #1’s that month.

Mixing the fun of pirates with a map-hopping tour of the Flashpoint universe, Flashpoint: Deathstroke and the Curse of the Ravager takes readers on a journey both epic and personal.
And it's what the writer calls "key" to the Flashpoint universe.
The extent of the Flashpoint universe was recently revealed by DC with a map that showed a wide variety of lands and factions, as wars rage across the globe. The three-issue Deathstroke mini-series takes readers across this vast alternate universe as the villainous pirate Slade Wilson searches for his daughter, Rose.

And because the story is written by Jimmy Palmiotti with art by Joe Bennett, things get a little crazy. Known for his mind-boggling moments in the Jonah Hex series he writes with Justin Gray, Palmiotti has been given the directive to really push the limits in Deathstroke, fully utilizing the boldness of Bennett's art.
"I got to do some really crazy stuff," Palmiotti said, "and it actually all fits in the bigger scheme of the Flashpoint storyline."
Along Deathstroke's pirating trip, many familiar villainous faces show up, as well as some new characters created by Flashpoint architect Geoff Johns and Palmiotti himself.
Newsarama talked with Palmiotti to find out more.
Newsarama: Jimmy, who is Deathstroke in the Flashpoint universe?
Jimmy Palmiotti: Deathstroke is still the mercenary and assassin and bad-ass character that Slade Wilson's always been, except now he's a pirate. And he has this ship called Ravager.
He's taking advantage of all the chaos going on in the world and making stuff his own. He does what pirates do -- they rob, they steal, they kill.
The three issues cover a lot of ground. There's a lot of stuff going on, but it's a personal story as well. He's a man on a mission, and that is to find his daughter Rose.
Nrama: DC has indicated that we'll see a lot of the Flashpoint world in this mini-series?
Palmiotti: Yeah, he's searching for his daughter, but he still has a crew to satisfy. So as they rob, steal and plunder, they'll make their way through much of the Flashpoint universe.
And his life is not being made easy. Rose is keeping a couple steps ahead of him, and the people he's after are making sure things do not go well for him.
There are a lot of different stories going down within the three issues. And then it's also very involved with what's happening in the Flashpoint book and the world Geoff is creating there.
Nrama: It seems like you have the perfect artist for a big story like this. Joe Bennett's art is very big and grand.
Palmiotti: Oh yeah. I worked with Joe on Hawkman way back when, and he's gotten so much better, even though I didn't think he could. It's fantastic, it's over-the-top. The stuff I've seen has made me laugh because it's so filled with energy. There's a certain joy in the madness going on in the book, and Joe and John Dell really nailed it. I'm really, really happy with the way the first issue looks.
Nrama: What made you want to get involved with the Flashpoint story?
Palmiotti: I just think this is such an interesting part of the overall Flashpoint story, because we get to use this amazing character in Deathstroke and find out what he'd be like as a pirate, plus we get to really delve into all the corners of this world that Geoff has created.
I'm not sure why DC wanted me on this title in particular, but I guess when they thought about murdering, thieving mercenaries and killers, I must have come to mind. Geoff especially felt that I would be the right person to write this kind of character.
Of course, the first thing out of my mouth was, "What can't I do? When am I going too far?" And they said, "Just write it the way you see it, and then we'll take a look and go from there."
And the funny thing about writing this series is that not much is censored. It's as crazy as I wanted to get, and they loved it, so it's kind of a great gig all around. I got to do some really crazy stuff, and it actually all fits in the bigger scheme of the Flashpoint storyline.
The concept's great, the character's terrific -- I've been a fan of Deathstroke since way back, even in the '80s when Marv [Wolfman] and George [Perez] were doing the character -- so I couldn't say no to the offer.
Nrama: Deathstroke has usually been portrayed as a mercenary, doing jobs for other people who pay him. But it sounds like you're letting him loose in this crazy world. Does that make him different at all?
Palmiotti: Well, he's still the same character, but even more bad-ass, with no holds barred, really. But of course, there's a point where he realizes there are some things money can't buy, and that's his daughter.
But yeah, there are no limitations when he's a pirate, traveling the world, so we made a comic that, if it were a movie, would have a $300 million budget. But because it's a comic, we could do pretty much anything we wanted.
So we went a little crazy in this book. I tried to get as creative as I could with how he does his job as a pirate. Extreme violence, when it's creative, is very entertaining to me. I had a lot of creativity in this book with how to take a guy down.
Nrama: Will you touch upon other things going on in the Flashpoint universe?
Palmiotti: It's actually key. There are key scenes in the first two issues that are actually important to the story of Flashpoint. They relate to what's going on in Geoff's book, even so far as some things are actually different angles or different perspectives. So you see events happening in Flashpoint, and then you're going to see Deathstroke's perspective. It's sort of like two people watch the same thing and get two different things out of it. So that's why the book's so cool.
Nrama: Are there a lot of new characters?
Palmiotti: There are existing characters in it and there are some new characters that Geoff created, there are a few that I created, and some of them have some horrible ends.
The supporting cast kind of gets put through hell in the book. Some make it out OK, some not so OK. But that's the price of hanging out with a guy like Deathstroke. If you're on his ship and on his crew, then you're as good as dead in other people's eyes.
And we also deal with other ships. I don't want to give it away, but there are other ships. One in particular has another hero in the DCU on it that's a lot of fun. So we get to see pirates battling each other. And we get some hand-to-hand combat.
The idea that I got to write a pirate book with Deathstroke in it was a big, fun riot. It's the kind of thing where you get the premise and your imagination goes crazy. And that's what readers are going to see on the page. Just this crazy, fun tour of the Flashpoint Universe with DC characters as pirates and lots of swashbuckling action.

X-Men Prelude to Schism 2 of 4
Written by Paul Jenkins
Art by Andrea Mutti and Lee Loughridge
I liked this issue mostly because of how much insight we get into Erick's (Magneto) past and how we are shown a good bit into his mind. The art work is gravitatingly breath taking to say the least. It pulls you into the days of Hitler and with the dialog it keeps you there. But not just there as the story comes and goes from past to present at just the right moments. This issue left me wanting more. I can't wait to see what happens next.--Kat

Fear Itself Book One
As this has been said to be the biggest event in the Marvel Universe this year. It starts out just perfect as the pace of the story starts right out the door grasping your attention and holds on to it for dear life through out the book. The art is beautiful with such detail that bewilders you more and more with each scene. All in all it is my favorite book of the day.
Dc Universe Online Legends # 1
Though the game is not doing as well as many had hoped, i am already over whelmed by the comic book. Not only do you have Lex beating down Superman but you get the action of how one enemy of of man creates a band allies around the world. The art work is just eye candy to say the least. I love how so many scenes are so busy but clear. Tough I do wish the dialog had been more talkative less screaming, but when Brainic is attacking a planet you don't have much time to talk. All in all I liked it and look forward to future issues.- Kat

Eric Powell & the Kingdom of Monsters #1
First, I want to say that I'm not a huge Godzilla fan. The thought of a giant lizard in japan is not very relevant to me, but Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters is written by Eric Powell. Powell makes this book bearable to me. His skill lies in Horror/Humor stories, which is what this book is all about. Added to the amazing, eye-popping artwork, and you've got me HOOKED! This is definitely 5 star material. 5 out of 5-Chris

Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt # 1
Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #1
Written by Sean McKeever
Art by Mike Norton and Veronica Gandini
Lettering by Clayton Cowles
Published by Marvel Comics
Review by Teresa Jusino
From www.newsarama.com
Sean McKeever seems to be the go-to guy for writing young superheroes these days. After a sadly short-lived run with Young Allies, McKeever is back to bringing us some of those characters, as well as some other fascinating young heroes from the Marvel Universe, and showing us how the events of Fear Itself are affecting them in Fear Itself: Youth In Revolt.
Issue #1 begins with Prodigy, having finally settled into a normal life after the events of Civil War, getting a message from Steve Rogers asking him to head up a new Initiative of young heroes to help with the current situation plaguing the planet. Prodigy reluctantly accepts, realizing that the very things that make him reluctant are the things that would make him the perfect choice to lead. (Steve Rogers seems to have a great knack for hiring people and putting them where they need to be) Other young heroes join this Initiative, also reluctantly, and they are quickly in the thick of things, forced to put their personal rivalries aside for the greater good. As they attempt to save the fearful general populace from itself, Thor Girl gets cornered by law enforcement who are suspicious and afraid of the hammer she wields in light of the five hammers that have fallen all over the world, and she attempts to convince them that she was trying to help.
McKeever has done an excellent job of not only figuring out where all of these young heroes fit into the events of the larger Fear Itself storyline, but he’s managed to give so many of them their own stories based on their individual wants and needs. We’ll get to watch Prodigy deal with being a leader after having been imprisoned twice for his individualistic, leader-like qualities; Gravity and Firestar’s return to working with a team despite things going badly last time they tried; Cloud 9’s return to superhero life, period, after swearing to give it up and trying to live a normal life; and Thor Girl’s struggle with what it means to have chosen to mold herself after the Asgardians now that they have seemingly abandoned humanity. McKeever has written a fast-paced, human story that never loses sight of the characters even as they delve into the larger plot.
Mike Norton is one of those artists whose style is a perfect fit for stories with young characters, and so he was an excellent choice for this limited series. He does well by large images (his two-page spread of all the young heroes listening to Prodigy’s proposal is great), action panels, as well as smaller character moments where an eyebrow crinkle can reveal so much; and he draws it all with a buoyant, youthful energy. I could easily see his images as an animated series.
Sometimes, I think that every event is overrun with tie-in titles. However, I respect the fact that Marvel always checks in with the least-known of its superheroes, fitting them into the story and showing us how the world’s big events affect the most vulnerable. McKeever’s Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt is a promising read in its first issue as it plunges character-first into the events of Fear Itself.

Batman Incorporated #6
Written by Grant Morrison
Art by Chris Burnham and Nathan Fairbairn
Lettering by Pat Brosseau
Published by DC Comics
It was ironic that recent installments of Batman Incorporated made mention of the concept of Ouroboros (a snake that eats its own tail, forming a never-ending loop), because with the past couple of issues the book was similarly close to disappearing into itself. However, with this issue, things seem to be getting back on track and returning the title to the "short, punchy stories" that writer Grant Morrison promised when the title was first announced.
From cover to gloriously intricate final double-page, Batman Incorporated #6 is a perfect illustration of the concept of Bruce Wayne's war-on-crime going global, and is long overdue, possibly to the point where it should have been the opening issue. Using a meeting in Gotham's underworld as a framing device, we're given a rollicking, globetrotting tour of the current set-up of Batman's army in an issue so densely packed that it's hard to pick out the highlights. I'll give it my best shot though: highlights include Batman trolling on the internet, Cassandra Cain making a re-appearance in a new guise, and more overtly sinister clues to what global terror organization Leviathan's plans are.
To counter this, the reader is shown that as always Batman has a fair idea of the enemy he faces, and this information is shared off-panel with his closest allies in no less than three occasions in this book. Keeping the readers one step behind the characters in this manner is a smart narrative trick that teases us to the point where we're dying to know what's actually going on, and so demands that we keep up. Tellingly, characters that seemed one-note and disposable from last year's Batman: The Return make an appearance, if only to underscore a point: both Grant Morrison and Batman are preparing for something huge, and they will need everyone they can get.

Review Irredeemable vol1 TPB
I can honestly say tat this is one well written book. In fact, I'd say this book is "Comic Book Crack"! What I mean is it's really the kind of book you can't stop reading. The art is decent, the characters are kind of generic looking, but OMG the story is awesome. This is one book I'm certainly going to pick up on a regular basis.

NO WONDER WOMAN
by Silas Lesnick
May 13th, 2011
Info found on www.superherohype.com
David E. Kelley's "Wonder Woman" television series has failed to find a network pickup at NBC, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
The series was planned as a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman (Adrianne Palicki) is both a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles, a successful corporate executive (as her alter ego, Diana Prince) and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
The pilot was written by Kelley and directed by Jeffrey Reiner ("The Event") and also featured Elizabeth Hurley, Pedro Pascal, Tracie Thoms and Cary Elwes in the cast.
With NBC declining to give the go-ahead, it is unlikely that the comic book adaptation will see the light of day as a series. What is more likely -- albeit, not a guarantee -- is that the produced pilot could be released in one form or another, as was the case with the unproduced "Smallville" spin-off, "Aquaman," which was released on iTunes and sold as a Best Buy exclusive.

Comic book Reveiws
Comic Book Reviews By: Alicia (Kat Clark) Inman and Chris (Poepo) Inman
Angel #44 for $3.99
After being sent to the future Angel returns to the present time where Connor, Gun, and Anne are fighting off a powerful evil. This comic is a great point to start catching up and starting in. The art is spectacular with all the characters looking so much like the ones from the show. A nice little plus in this issue if you are just starting to read angel is the big power show off by Connor. I would give it a 4 out of 5. -Kat
100-Page Spectacular Angel $7.99
The Curse: This is a great little one shot. This one shot has a great little update into Angel's emotional state and how he plans on getting around the whole no happiness if he has “perfect” happiness curse. And it takes place in Romania as he is trying to help the gypsies. So a recap iner thoughts of Angel, really pissed off Romanian vamps and sunlight all around I totally give it a 4 out of 5. -Kat
Mystery Date: Here we find Nina(werewolf girl) and Angel, in puppet form, going out to have a “normal” night out. When a dismissed client comes to destroy Angel. The story keeps you guessing and asking what is happening. I would have to give it a 3 out of 5. -Kat
Auld Long Syne: This was a great issue as we find Angel and Spike after they both have been battling people from their past. This is a issue that is worth the the price of the whole book with both Angel and Spike going at each other and not holding anything back this time. I fully give it a 5 out of 5.- Kat
Last Angel in Hell: Angel and the gang are at San Diego in a Sci-fi Festival. (“Rip-off of the comic con.”-Connor) They are looking for a flaming sword but get much more when all the people in costume become their characters it is a great end to the 100- page spectacular. I would have to give it a 4 out of 5 for the pure comedy factor.
Spike #7 $3.99
Spike has lost his soul but luckly he knows just where to find it, right in Dru. But first we get a glimpse at the ship that Spike is caption of in the future in Buffy that is piloted by bugs. This is a great comic to see start off with and to help you understand how Spike came upon the ship in the fist place if you have read or plan to read Buffy. This is a 5 out of 5 for sure.
Dollhouse one shot $3.50
This is a great start to show the Dollhouse world. As the first two seasons ended with showing us that the tech that made the dolls the way they were became the end of the world as we know it and started a whole new one. The characters Zone and Helen are great and you get a great since of who they are. The art work was amazing and the story keeps you interested and wanting more. I am really looking forward to Dollhouse #1 on sale July 13, 2011 and you can find it and this one shot at Poepoz. I give this 5 out of 5.-Kat
X-23 vs. Daken: Dark Wolverine $2.99
In this comic you have a lot of insight in the back story which helped me because I had not been able to get a X-23 comic in a while. The art work was great and the action was movie worthy and of course this issue ends at the start of a possibly epic battle though with all the build up here and there and the answer to many questions that have been hanging in the balance for a while. I will have to give it a 3 out of 5.-Kat
Fear Itself Prologue Book of the Skull one shot $3.99
This is a great prologue to Fear Itself for all the unanswered questions of how Sin even knew about the hammer and how did she know about it. Here we find the answers and she how Sin is still wanting to be better than the Skull. We find out that the Skull in February 1942 got the hammer sent to him but from whom is still a mystery. I give it a 4 out of 5.-Kat
Part Five War of the Green Lanterns Green Lantern Corps # 59 $2.99
Here we get to see how bad the lanterns are being affected. They are all turning against the ones who have not been affected. Also how the four green lanterns that have not been taken over are planning and dealing with how to deal with the others. Though the story is great I just found myself wanting more. I give it a 4 out of 5.-Kat
Batgirl # 20 $2.99
Batgirl is fighting a super speed villain and more importantly Bardra is not stepping up and hold Batgirls hand though this one. Though I wish the art was a bit better but the story was cute and it was great to see how the characters are growing. I give in a 3 out of 5.- Kat
Planet of the Apes #1 $3.99
This is a interesting story picking up your attention and holding it all the way through. You get to have a revealing view of the characters in this book. In the end you are looking forward to the next issue though not thinking you did not really get enough in this one. I felt the drama and action along with the mystery where well dispersed through out the issue. I am personally looking forward to the next issue and rate this one a 5 out of 5. -Kat
X-Force #1 $1.00
With this comic being only 1 dollar you get WAY more than you pay for. It starts you off with great art work by Clayton Crain, It is eye grasping and the characters are better than ever. After this issue I look forward to each and every one of the 5 issues left of this run. I give it a 4.75 out of 5.-Kat
Irredeemable #1 and Incorruptible #1 $1.00
Well you could say you are only giving 50 cents for each of these comics and to tell the truth you are really under paying here. It's very graphic and it's the beginning of the story. You get a good feeling of the bigger story. good read.
I would have to give it a 4 out of 5 for the pure comedy factor.

check out this review of Fear Itself
Comic Book Review: Fear Itself #1
If you haven’t been reading Marvel books for the past few months (or maybe under a rock in a cave) you probably wouldn’t have seen their full-court press advertising Fear Itself. With Fear Itself, Marvel’s next great event series is upon us and I can’t wait to see what happens.
Book One: The Serpent, is written by Matt Fraction with art by Stuart Immonen. Fear Itself is seven parts and will eventually cross over into every major Marvel Universe book, including the X-Men books.
Worldwide struggling economies and job markets, mass media reporting on the culture of fear, consumerism, religious wars, and natural disasters have all contributed to the state of the world. Never has there been more fear felt collectively by humanity than today. Fear Itself is about a Norse god named the Serpent: The God of Fear who is powered by feeding off of the fear of others. The Serpent has a centuries old vendetta with Odin, who used magic to hide him away. Now thanks to the Red Skull’s daughter, he’s loose and with Asgard and the Gods at their weakest, he is poised to strike.
What stands out most about Book One is the overall tone, it felt like watching the news and reading a crazy Ray Bradbury-esque story about ancient Gods come to Earth to have their new kingdom built in the heartland of America (with superheroes of course). It appears the focus of this story will be the Norse Gods of Asgard and the battle for the title of All-Father. I’m excited to see more about the Red Skull’s daughter as she wields the Hammer of Skadi.
My favorite part of this book had to be the battle between Thor and Odin as Odin is losing his mind. Thor was given the choice between Asgard and Man, Thor chose Man and humanity. The climax of this battle is Odin commanding Thor’s Hammer, “Mjolnir drop,” essentially taking The God of Thunder’s powers away and ending the fight. Odin giveth; Odin taketh away, indeed. Make sure to check out Book Two: Blitzkrieg U.S.A. in May as well as crossover issues throughout the rest of the Marvel Universe as fear spreads this summer.
